Weekly Blast 11/18/2019
Good Afternoon parents, We are in the last week before our thanksgiving break! We are all looking forward to some time with family and relaxations. This week: Friday: Read All Day- Students may dress in their pajamas, bring a favorite stuffed animal and get cozy and read. Tests: Thursday: Math: Test on Unit 2. Multiplication and division. Science: Pollution assessment. (This was a short unit. Students have taken a vocab quiz and have a very small packet. There are materials on the resource page to help study. Study Island is a great option for this unit.) Please let me know if I can assist in any way. Ana Holden Good Morning, Please accept my apologies. I did not realize that my previous blog did not post. I have had my computer re-imaged twice in the past 10 days, and in addition to loosing many documents, apparently the internet access I thought I had when I wrote last week's blog- was non-existent. I have been working on making this website more useful and user friendly in an effort to give you a "one-stop-shop" for resources and news info. As I continue this effort, any feedback (positive or negative) would be greatly appreciated. Anyone willing to help develop this is also welcome:-) THANK YOU! A big thank you to Mrs. Westcott! She was the first to use our Amazon wishlist and purchased some whiteboard paddles for our class. These will be used during whole and small group lessons to check for understanding and engage the students in a game I call "Show me." Look for a picture page on this site soon:-) MYON Reading Competition Our third graders have been hard at work reading and racking up points. We are currently 2nd in the metro area (All counties surrounding Atlanta) with 5 students in the top ten! Please encourage you child to read on Myon at home- these books are cross curricular and will only increase their reading ability. Books may be read to the students or they may read it themselves. A Big congratulations to CLAIRE JOHNSON who is in the #1 position. 3rd Grade Musical This Thursday 11/14 our third graders will have their musical at 6PM. I hope you are able to attend. Science: Pollution Please look Under the "Resources" tab above and find helpful links to materials you could use at home with your child. Please let me know if any of the links are not working. Have a Great Week, Ana Holden Good Afternoon,
This week: Students will be taking their Native American Social Studies Test on Thursday (thought maybe Friday they would be tired:-) I have just been "playing" with our new social studies textbook materials and have some exciting news. I found a great online resource and have assigned some "homework" to help students study this week: Instructions: Have students go to : Launchpad FCS Username: student number Password: 8 digit birthday (day/month/year) Once they are in, they will need to click on the Social Studies tab- inside the "app" box will be a blue logo (Gallopade) Under "assignments" tab there will be a Native American interactive activity for students to use. This will be a good tool to use for studying. Math: We will continue working on multiplication strategies and relating multiplication and division. Conferences: I will be sending out a sign up genius by the end of next week. My goal is to create enough time slots for all of my students. Math tests this week. All math levels will be testing this week- Whenever possible, I try and coincide the unit tests. This will ensure a quiet testing environment. Students will be tested Wed, Thurs, and Fri- some may even go into next week. The goal is to do everything I can to ensure optimal understanding for each child's capabilities prior to testing.
